Five ways to a healthy living.

The medical and health costs are rising at such an exorbitant rate that it is best to keep a check on your health and diet. Most of us dread paying enormous amount of money as premiums and try to avoid such insurance complications. However, the best way for us to keep a check on our health and medical insurance is to maintain a healthy lifestyle. By keeping a check on our diet and health, we can prevent ourselves from serious aliments and save a lot of money.

1. First and foremost you should give up smoking. Smoking causes ninety percent of our illnesses. Smokers can suffer from lung and mouth cancer, bronchitis, pneumonia, infection in the lung, mouth and so on. Smokers are susceptible to colds and infections very easily. According to insurance policies, all smokers have to pay extra premium, due to their string of illnesses. Most agencies do not even cover smokers completely. So instead of paying so much, it is easier to give up smoking.

2. Excessive consumption of alcohol also causes a lot of ailments, such as viral and bacterial infections, chronic liver diseases and so on. Drinkers rarely get complete medical insurance and they have to pay double the amount of premium to get covered partially. In fact most insurance agencies do not entertain alcoholics while giving policies. Alcohol reduces the immune system, causing blindness, deafness, and less control on bladder.

3. The most important way to keep healthy and fit is to have a controlled diet. By reducing the oil in our food we can prevent serious and fatal ailments like heart problems, obesity and strokes. Less oil keeps us fit and improves our respiratory and circulatory system. We should also keep a check on our salt intake as that can also lead to a variety of illnesses. A regular intake of vitamins, minerals, zinc and calcium protects our immunity system, keeping us away from diseases and common infections like cold and cough.

4. Along with a healthy diet we should keep our body fit by exercising regularly. Exercising prevents obesity, which is the cause of many ailments. Obesity can lead to heart trouble, slowing down of your limbs, asthma, diabetes, stress, tension and so on. Regular exercise keeps us healthy and boosts our regulatory, circulatory and respiratory systems. It helps regulate a good flow of blood to our heart. It ensures pure intake oxygen to our lungs. It also helps increase the rate of metabolism, which keeps us healthy and prevents ailments.

5. Another important way to keep fit and healthy is to get ample amount of rest. Rest helps reduce our stress and tensions. It makes our mind and body very calm, thus keeping us happy. Stress results in a number of diseases, such as diabetes, heart problems, cancer, brain tumour, stomach illnesses, headaches, insomnia, anxiety and so on. Thus the best way to keep fit is to be stress free.
