Are you eligible for a health insurance policy?
To get complete health and medical insurance is very easy these days. One just needs to be between the age of one and a half and sixty five years to enjoy the benefits. A person is entitled to only one medical or health coverage; they cannot opt for two at the same time. Being a resident of the country is very important. Foreigners are entitled to the insurance only if they have lived in the country, for over two years and if they have a permanent visa. You also need to provide detailed health history of the family, either on the insurance forms or via a telephonic interview before signing your contract. Most insurance companies provide excellent service and help their customers in time of need. If the customer has been able to pay all his dues on time, they provide extra benefits that can be claimed in that particular calendar year. However the law states that if you switch to a new insurance plan, all the credit points that you have collected from your previous policy will be transferred to your new account. Transferring could take a while, but it will eventually be credited to your account. In case you are switching from one scheme to another, full detail of your medical history needs to be provided. If you have had any new ailments or injuries during your previous plan, even that needs to be stated. Proof of your illness, such as tests, doctor’s certificates should be submitted, before joining the new policy.
It is important to note that no ailments, injuries or diseases should be hidden from the new insurance agency as you could be penalized for the illegal action. Be sure to always say the truth, otherwise you may not get reimbursed for your medical expenses at the time of emergency. The new insurance agency gives you a grant of twelve months, within which they keep a check on your health. If you do not meet the requirements, then they cancel your policy. There is a life insurance policy also available where the family of the insured receives a small amount after the insured passes away. There is always a limit on the amount of compensation that insurance agencies provide. Most insurance policies have a certain time period in which they are valid. You have to renew your policy each time it expires.
However, insurance policies can be terminated if you do not have the requirements stated below.
You are not a dependant anymore
You have exhausted the validity period
You have not paid the premiums on time.
You leave the country.
The insurance companies are very strict and follow their rules to the core. If you have not met with the requirements of your policy, it can be terminated by giving a notice of sixty days, starting on the first of every month. They scrutinize each and every policy carefully, before accepting it.
