Cheap Life Insurance is better than No Life Insurance

Regardless of how tight your budget may already be, you should have some kid of life insurance policy. Your family needs a way to replace your income for at least a year, so that when you die, they won’t have to stress about paying off your expenses and turning into a one income family all at the same time. Even if you are young, if you are supporting a family, then you should have a life insurance policy. We all like to think that we will be around here for a long time, but we all know there are no guarantees, so it is important to take the steps necessary to protect your family in case something unexpected happens to you.

Most financial advisors will tell you that you should take out a life insurance policy that is large enough to make up for your annual salary, at the very least. Many employers will offer this type of life insurance plan as a part of their benefits package, and you should take advantage of it. Your monthly premiums come right out of your paycheck, much the same as taxes or 401k deductions, and your family if covered in case something happens to you. You can even choose to take out extra insurance as well, not just your salary amount. Check with your benefits director or human resources manager to see if this option is available to you. If it is, you should take advantage of it, as it will likely be cheaper than what you would pay for a life insurance policy anywhere else.

For those people who are self-employed or retired, they unfortunately have to find their own life insurance provider, and pay their own premiums directly out of pocket. If you fall into this category, you should begin your search by talking to the company that already handles your car and home insurance needs, as you will likely be able to get a much better deal, if they offer life insurance policies. The more insurances you have with one provider, usually the better deal you will get overall.

If you have the time, and don’t mind spending some time on the phone, you could go through the phone book calling the various insurance providers for some basic information concerning the policies they offer, and the basic premiums for each policy. Some will ask if you smoke, have any health conditions, your age, and your gender, and maybe some other personal questions, so that they can give you a more accurate quote. So, don’t be offended if these questions come up during theconversation.

Finally, you could turn to the place that many do nowadays when looking for information, the internet. The bad thing is that you may get so many results back when you search for life insurance providers that you have a difficult time going through them all. If you are on a tight budget or fixed income, as many of us are, you are likely looking for the life insurance policy that you can get for the best price with the most benefit, and it may take you some time to find that. Check out several different websites and quotes, and you should come out with a good deal. As with any purchase, you usually will save money by doing some comparison shopping before making a final decision, and life insurance is no different.
